According to the
All Music Guide, The Brian Jonestown Massacre's debut LP
Methodrone was 'shoegazer-influenced' (Ankeny 2006).
If not, use a shortened version of the site's name: (allmusic.com)

(These are my Harvard style versions. Other recognised versions--MLA, Chicago etc--are acceptable if used consistently and make sense).
The important thing is to make clear where you got
all your information from--you get high marks for exhibiting intelligent research, not for "knowing stuff off the top of your head".
* Please study the difference between commas (,), colons (:), and semi-colons (;).
Example:
Several problems have come to light during the marking of your essays, a few of which are as follows: firstly, the use of semi-colons where commas would be more appropriate; secondly, the use of semi-colons where colons would be more appropriate; and, thirdly, a lack of commas in many longer sentences.
* Those aspects of your first essay that are crucial to an understanding of your second should be restated (and re-referenced). The second essay has to stand on its own--it is not simply a continuation of the first.
* 1960s, 1970s—not 60s, 70s, or sixties, seventies
* Songs: ‘Sabotage’, ‘Root Down’
Albums:
Ill Communication Band: Beastie Boys
* Italics/underline for book, film & journal titles. Consult the EMSAH style guide.
* Double space; in-text references (not footnotes); indented quotes are single spaced, but don’t need italics or quote marks or smaller font
* Collect cohesive ideas into readable paragraphs
* Introduction, conclusion (write both last): clearly state your intentions/argument/methodology etc. in the introduction.
Sum up the essay in the conclusion.
* Use
some recognised (ie, published in a book, journal or
refereed online journal) cultural studies or media theory. Lazy internet research (eg. Wikipedia) is not acceptable.
* Journalism students: this is not a journalism class. Please present your work
in a format appropriate for this academic discipline, cultural studies.
